How We Choose

How We Choose

We get asked this a lot: “How do you find these things?”

The honest answer is: a lot of searching, a lot of rejecting, and a very clear set of questions we ask about every single product before it earns a place in our store.

Here’s exactly how we decide what makes the cut.

1. Does it solve a real problem — or create a real moment?

The best gifts do one of two things: they make someone’s life genuinely easier, or they create a moment of delight when unwrapped. We look for products that do at least one of these things exceptionally well. If it’s just “fine”, it doesn’t make it in.

2. Is it a discovery?

If you can find it in every high street shop or on the front page of every marketplace, it’s not a Spark&Find product. We look for things that feel like a find — items the recipient probably wouldn’t have stumbled across themselves. That element of surprise is part of the gift.

3. Would we actually give it?

This is the simplest test, and the most important one. Before anything goes live on our store, we ask: “Would I genuinely be happy to give this to someone I care about?” If the answer is anything less than yes, it doesn’t make the cut.

4. Is the quality worth the price?

We’re not chasing the cheapest option. We’re looking for the best value — products where the quality, design, and usefulness justify what you’re paying. Every product is researched for build quality, materials, and real-world performance before we list it.

5. Does it photograph well — and tell a story?

A great gift should look as good as it feels. We pay attention to how products present — because part of the joy of gift-giving is the unwrapping, the reveal, the moment. If a product doesn’t have that visual appeal, it’s harder to give with confidence.

That’s the Spark&Find standard. It means our catalogue stays small and intentional — and every product you find here has genuinely earned its place.
